- Munford - Sgt. 1C Conrad Dewey Hooper (USA, ret.), 64, of Memphis, died at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memphis Veterans Medical Center after an extended illness. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Munford Funeral Home with burial in National Cemetery in Memphis. Hooper was a member of Jackson Avenue United Methodist Church in Memphis, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and served three tours in Vietnam. He was also a member of Raleigh Masonic Lodge 770, Memphis Scottish Rite, Al Chymia Shrine Temple and Raleigh Moose Lodge. Hooper, the husband of Dorothy Pickard Hooper, also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Jill Dillon and Mrs. Patsy Shields, both of Memphis; a stepson, Claude 'Sonny' Bilderback of Marked Tree, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Doris Cecil of Naples, Fla., and two grandchildren. The family asks that any memorials be made to Shrine Temple Crippled Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
