- Obituary for Patricia (Patty) Nelms Bonds
Patricia (Patty) beloved by all, entered God’s glorious kingdom on 1/19/2022 after a long illness of Alzheimer’s. Patty was born 2/27/27 in De Ridder Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband William A. (Billy) Bonds in 2020; son William (Bill) Louis Bonds; parents Louis & Bernice Nelms; sister Jackie Sins Nevill and dear cousin Rudy Flasdick. Patty and Billy were married 70 years and lived most of their lives in Lakewood/East Dallas raising their 2 sons – Bill and Bobby.
At age 5, Patty accepted Jesus as her savior and was sprinkled in the Methodist Church. In later years, she was baptized by dear friend Pastor Neil Ashcraft. Patty’s life verse was Romans 8:28 “All things work together for good to those that love the Lord.” She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and witness to all of God’s handiwork.
After finishing high school in Kentucky at age 16, Patty moved to Dallas and took a summer job in Dallas with Paramount Pictures with plans to start college in September but she fell in love with Paramount and stayed several years. Patty never met a stranger and was blessed with many wonderful friends. She loved office work and volunteered for all positions at Scofield Bible Church from switch board operator to Pastor Neil Ashcraft’s private secretary. For six years she hand typed Scofield’s weekly newsletter. Once while traveling on a cruise, Patty helped a Jewish Rabbi prepare his weekly sermon. She loved to dance and learned to ballroom dance by putting her feet on her daddy’s shoes. During World War II, Patty was a USO jitter bug dancer. She helped Billy in his apartment building business by doing all the interior design work. She supported her sons by being in PTA as chairperson and room mother. Patty and Billy loved to swing dance, play bridge with friends and to travel and had many wonderful trips around the world and US. But nothing gave her more joy than being with family and friends and sharing laughs and stories.
Survivors are son Bobby and daughter-in-law Jean; niece Patty Frederick and husband Tony of Houston, nephews Mike Sins of Florida and Jeffrey Nevill and wife Suzie of Cypress, and 5 great nieces and nephews – Kayla Nevill, Emily Nevill, Justin Sins, Janelle Napolitano and Michael Blake Sins and 3 great-great nieces/nephews – Sabrina Napolitano, Luca Napolitano and Ethan Sins.
