Deceased Name: J.K. Goins Sr.
SHERIDAN J.K. (Jake) Goins Sr. of Sheridan, Ark., was born March 16, 1918, in Star City, Ark., the son of the late William Alexander and Martha Susanne Keahey Goins.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sheridan, a member of JJ Deer Camp, had retired from J.A. Riggs as a diesel mechanic and had served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Goins died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 90.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Goins and brothers, Jessie Lee, James Edward (Red), Elmer Eldridge (Chick), Homer Travis, Willie Woodrow (Bill), sisters, Ella Mae, Dorothy (Dot) and Mary Elizabeth.
Survivors: son, J.K. Goins Jr. and wife Karen of Sheridan; daughter, Zoe Hines and husband Gary of Sheridan; grandsons, J.K. (Jace) Goins III, John Robinette, Chris Goins, Scott Hines; great-grandsons, Haze and Ian;
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
