Dr. Billie Shelton McCullough Jr. of Covington died at Covington Care. Dr. McCullough, 74, was a general surgeon in private practice. He was a member of the Fellow American College of Surgeons, the Tennessee Medical Association and First Presbyterian Church.
He was a former chief of surgery and chief of staff at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton and the director of medical care for Covington Care Nursing Home and Covington Manor Nursing Home. He also served as past president for the Covington Rotary Club and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Services were April 12 at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with Rev. Mat Taylor officiating. Burial was in R. H. Munford Cemetery in Covington.
Survivors include his spouse, Gail Oliver McCullough; a son, William Shelton McCullough of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Elizabeth Abdul-Ramon of Memphis, Amy Jungwirth of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeanne Lewis of Arlington, Va.; and six grandchildren. [3]
