- Dorothy Boyd
Dorothy Boyd, 87 of Mildred passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019. She was born at the old P & S Hospital in Corsicana on Dec. 26, 1931 to John and Eula Grantham.
She graduated from Mildred High School in 1950. She graduated from Navarro College and was a member of the original "Barracks Bunch". She worked for the city of Corsicana for 33 years. She then continued on at the Corsicana Senior Activity Center until the fall of 2018. She was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church and a 60 plus year member of Eastern Star. She created a home full of love and laughter for generations of family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Vernon Boyd; her daughters, Becky Burns and husband, Roy of Corsicana, Sandy Weiers and husband, Jerry of Glendale, Arizona and son Johnny Rob Boyd and wife Cindy of Corsicana. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Garrett Minter, Rick and Ashley Burns, Heather and Jacob Wasinger, Hayden Boyd, Heath Boyd and Chrissy and Brandon Hawn. She has five great-grandchildren; Natalie and Abby Burns, Hank Boyd and Clayton and Connor Hawn.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Corley Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bill Manney officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons; Garrett Minter, Rick Burns, Heath Boyd, Hayden Boyd, and Jacob Wasinger with other relatives Jason Baker and Eric Steele. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Randy Boyd, Jimmy Boyd, Bill Massey, Donnie Steele, Abe Steele, Bobby Grantham and J.D. Wright.
