WILLIAM HENRY WOOTEN, 91, of Covington, Tenn., founder and operator of Wooten Oil Co. for more than 50 years, died of heart failure Thursday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church of Covington, where he was a deacon and an elder, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. He also owned the Penny Pantry Inc. and Wooten Transport Co. in Memphis for about 35 years. He had been on the board of directors of Tipton County Bank and a director of the First Utility District. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a co-founder of the Covington Country Club. Mr. Wooten, the husband of Elizabeth Hall Wooten, also leaves two daughters, Ann Wooten of Atlanta and Nancy Wooten of Memphis; a sister, Sarah Gordon of Memphis; two brothers, Paul Wooten and Robert Wooten, both of Munford, Tenn.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to First Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
