Deceased Name: JAMES THOMAS "TOM" KELSEY , JR.
JAMES THOMAS "TOM" KELSEY, JR., 67, died peacefully at his home in Collierville February 28, 2007. He graduated from Collierville High School in 1958. He attended Lambuth College in Jackson, TN, USA, and he graduated from the University of Akron in Akron, OH, USA. After graduation, he moved to Logan, OH, USA and taught at Hocking County Community College for 3 years. Upon his return to Shelby County, he taught for a few years at Germantown High School before joining the family in Kelsey Brothers Department Store and other business interests. In later years, he started Collierville Charters. He was a lifelong member of Collierville United Methodist Church. Tom loved the outdoors, especially hunting, and he was very fond of horses and bird dogs. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Loyd Kelsey; his daughter, Deborah Kelsey Woody; his son, James Franklin Kelsey; four grandchildren, Patrick, Jodi, Jamie, and Matthew, all of Collierville; his parents, James and Elizabeth Kelsey of Collierville; two brothers, Bill Kelsey of Collierville and Bob Kelsey of Memphis. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at Sanctuary on the Square, with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Collierville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Briarcrest Athletic Department, 10103 East Raleigh LaGrange Road, Eads, TN, USA 38028, Collierville United Methodist Church Sanctuary on the Square, or the Epilepsy Foundation.
