  Emmitt Kenneth Cherry Emmitt Kenneth Cherry, 82, of Oxford died Friday, Sept. 2 at Tyler Holmes Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Cherry was a native of Monticello, Ark., and was a former resident of Winona, a retired cotton mill employee, member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Grenada, and a member of Woodmen of the World. Mr. Cherry is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Allen Cherry of Oxford; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Naron of Oxford; one son, John L. Cherry of Oxford; two sisters, Mrs. J. O. Cunningham of Montrose, Ark. and Mrs. Beatrice Cummings of Schertz, Tex.; two brothers, Luther Cherry of Cornersville, Ark. and Roy Cherry of Monticello, Ark.; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Joe Womack at Oliver Chapel at 2 P.M. Sunday, Sept. 4. Burial was in Scotland Baptist Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Paul Schmitz, Spencer Wasson, Philen Upchurch, Kenny Naron, Lewis Kaufman and Barthal Garrett. The Winona Times Winona, MS September 8, 1977 [8]
