- Emmitt Kenneth Cherry
Emmitt Kenneth Cherry, 82, of Oxford died Friday, Sept. 2 at Tyler Holmes Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Cherry was a native of Monticello, Ark., and was a former resident of Winona, a retired cotton mill employee, member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Grenada, and a member of Woodmen of the World.
Mr. Cherry is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Allen Cherry of Oxford; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Naron of Oxford; one son, John L. Cherry of Oxford; two sisters, Mrs. J. O. Cunningham of Montrose, Ark. and Mrs. Beatrice Cummings of Schertz, Tex.; two brothers, Luther Cherry of Cornersville, Ark. and Roy Cherry of Monticello, Ark.; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Joe Womack at Oliver Chapel at 2 P.M. Sunday, Sept. 4. Burial was in Scotland Baptist Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Paul Schmitz, Spencer Wasson, Philen Upchurch, Kenny Naron, Lewis Kaufman and Barthal Garrett.
